THE HISTORY OF THE BRAND

ELE comes from the word "electronic", which means open-source electronics. GOO comes from the word "googol", which means the 100th power of 10. The written form is 1 followed by 100 zeros, in reference to the immense amount of opportunities brought by 3D printers.

Elegoo induces the combination of electronics and open-source structures that creates everything.

THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY

In 2015, Chris Hong founded Elegoo in China's Silicon Valley, Shenzhen, with the goal of providing makers around the world with truly practical kits of electronic and structural tools that students, enthusiasts, and veteran geeks might find the need for at their stages. Chris Hong, who got his foot in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) field during his studies, believes that the opportunities in STEM are endless. For example, most of the sorting work in the express sector in China is done by intelligent robots, including restaurant food delivery robots, drone technology, etc., all of which are supported by STEM technology.

THE FOUNDATION OF THE BRAND

At the time, however, there were two major problems with open source electronics. First, STEM education wasn't universal enough for most people, and too many beginners didn't have the proper technical tools. Second, most companies and manufacturers in the STEM industry focused solely on open-source electronics hardware and lacked the tools to create a complete product by combining electronics and structural shells. That's why Chris, who had just graduated from university, came up with the idea of creating a company that would be based in the Silicon Valley of Shenzhen, China, and that would leverage its sophisticated supply chain advantages and technical talent to enable manufacturers to purchase appropriate electronics and 3D printers to create anything and everything.
